Biography

Mike advises employers and businesses in matters relating to employee issues and problems, handbook and policy issues, discrimination and harassment concerns under Title VII, the ADA, ADEA and other federal and state laws, FMLA claims, wage and hour issues, civil-right claims, class actions, medical marijuana and weapons in the workplace, and other labor and employment issues arising under federal, state, and local laws. His minor in information technology is particularly helpful in understanding how technology systems impact employers and businesses. Additionally, his experience in different areas of law and from clerking for a judge and working on the plaintiffs side of employment law claims allows him to evaluate matters from all angles and provide valuable advice.

In addition to advising employers, he represents and litigates on behalf of employers and businesses when they face a charge of discrimination or lawsuit. Mike is a strong advocate for his clients and with his practical and competitive nature and view of providing effective and efficient representation to clients he has been able to achieve positive outcomes for his clients in the courtroom and through settlement, mediation, arbitration, and dispositive motions.

Mike is also an accomplished legal writer and speaker, and is involved in many different associations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, Kane County Bar Association, Presence Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Board, Board of Directors of the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Human Resources Council.
