If I'm disabled, am I entitled to lower property taxes?

My husband died in 2010 and I'm disabled. I've been paying the same taxes on my house since his death. Can I get a rebate or exemption because I'm disabled? If so, how many years back can I collect overpaid taxes? Will lawyers handle this on a contingency basis?
