Console & Associates, P.C.: Radius Global Solutions, LLC Data Breach Impacts 600k People

Radius Global Solutions, LLC (“Radius”) has filed multiple reports of a data breach, as of August 4th, 2023. Details are available on the websites of the US Department of Health, the Human Services Office for Civil Rights, and the Radius website. This comes at the end of a Radius data breach investigation stemming back roughly two months, and it’s now clear that an unauthorized party has been able to access the names, Social Security numbers, and treatment information of 600,000 people.

Since filing these reports, Radius has begun sending out data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Besides informing you what data the unauthorized party stole that’s related to you, these letters also include an offer for 24 months of identity protection services. You should absolutely opt into these services, as they’ll help shield you from negative consequences and don’t take away from your right to file a Radius data breach lawsuit for additional compensation.

Details of the Radius Data Breach

Despite the report on the data breach being recent, the core cause is familiar news. It goes back to late May 2023, when software developer Progress Software discovered a day-zero vulnerability in its MOVEit file transfer tool. Many health and public sector entities rely on this tool for file transfer, but the ransomware group Clop was able to exploit the vulnerability. In doing so, they compromised the data of tens of millions of people across the United States.

According to Radius’ reports on the data breach, the company learned about the vulnerability on June 1st. Since then, Radius Global Solutions has been conducting a review of the files to determine the scope of the breach as well as the types of data included in the leak. Besides learning that 600,000 customers were impacted, the Radius data breach investigation also showed that the following information was compromised:

?      Social Security number

?      Name and date of birth

?      Patient treatment code

?      Treatment location

?      Treatment payment history

All of this information is serious, but the most problematic are the Social Security numbers. If you’re associated with Radius Global Solutions, watch your mail closely to see if you receive a data breach notification letter. It will inform you if you’ve been impacted by the breach, and also tell you what kind of information the hackers have been able to steal. From there, you’ll be able to take informed steps to protect your identity from malicious actors.
