Biography

John Howley has 30 years of experience representing clients in employment lawsuits and and as whistleblowers. He has a track record of exceptional results in important cases, including:
- an $80 million victory for employees in a race discrimination class action;
- an $800,000 victory for a live-in nanny in a wrongful termination lawsuit;
- an arbitration victory awarding police officers higher raises than firefighters for the first time in NYC history.

Mr. Howley has received The Thurgood Marshall Award from the New York City Bar Association, The Medal for Excellence in Advocacy from the American College of Trial Lawyers, and The Gideon Champion of Justice Award from the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has also been named one of New York's SuperLawyers.

He graduated from Skidmore College and earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was Articles Editor of the Law Review. During law school, he served as an intern to U.S. District Judge Kevin Thomas Duffy and to former U.S. Magistrate Judge, later U.S. District Judge, Shira A. Scheindlin.

Upon graduation, Mr. Howley served as a law clerk to Judge Roger J. Miner on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He then joined Kaye Scholer LLP, where he became a partner in the firm's litigation department.

After 20 years representing multinational corporations, Mr. Howley formed his The Howley Law Firm to provide individuals with the same level of expertise and aggressive advocacy.
