Biography

Kyle M. Globerman focuses his practice on intellectual property law. As a former partner at one of the nation’s leading law firms, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, where he practiced law for almost 10 years, Mr. Globerman is highly skilled in helping clients develop and manage their intellectual property portfolios. Mr. Globerman has particular experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for software, electrical, and mechanical inventions, and assisting clients in making informed decisions in regard to product and service branding through trademark searches and U.S. and foreign trademark filings.

In addition to working in large law firm intellectual property practices, Mr. Globerman also served as the Associate General Counsel for Technology and Intellectual Property for a highly respected provider of outsourced mortgage servicing. In this role, Mr. Globerman helped the company develop a diverse IP portfolio to protect the company’s advances in the fields of default management, REO asset management, REO sales, title services and insurance, settlement services and origination services. In his capacity as Associate General Counsel, Mr. Globerman developed extensive experience in drafting and negotiating technology licenses, supply agreements, vendor agreements and nondisclosure and confidentiality agreements.

As a registered patent attorney, Mr. Globerman has over 15 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of telecommunications, electrical, electro-surgical, clean technology, software and mechanical inventions. Mr. Globerman also has experience in preparing and prosecuting trademark applications and conducting branding clearance searches. Mr. Globerman also has extensive experience in counseling clients in regard to third party patents. Mr. Globerman has particular experience in preparing patentability opinions, non-infringement/invalidity opinions, and in helping his clients design around the patents of others.

In addition to his extensive conventional IP education and related experience, Mr. Globerman also has a formal education in Electrical Engineering and Accounting. In particular, Mr. Globerman attained degrees in both engineering (B.S.E.E. University of Florida 1989) and accounting (B.B.A., Florida Atlantic University-1993) and later extended his education with graduate work (Masters of Taxation, Florida Atlantic University-1995) and successfully obtained a CPA designation. Mr. Globerman started his working career as a practicing engineer designing airborne and space-borne antenna systems. Later, he was hired to advise high-level executives on various tax matters and to conduct financial audits while working as a CPA at two large accounting firms.

Mr. Globerman’s experience as a CPA and as in-house counsel not only allowed him to work closely with corporate management, but also to examine complex legal issues with a more complete business perspective. In sum, Mr. Globerman is able to assist clients in making informed business decisions that take legal issues into account, rather than merely making legal recommendations in light of business issues.

Mr. Globerman is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice law in both Georgia and Florida.
